How did resumes originate?
Have you ever wondered where resumes come from?
How did they start?
Here’s a fun fact – the first OFFICIAL RESUME is said to have been written by Leonardo da Vinci in 1482.
Leo collated a list of his abilities and sent it to the regent of Milan, seeking an engineering job.
He was unsuccessful in landing the role!
In hindsight, that was strangely fortunate.
Imagine if he’d received a YES instead of a no.
He may never have become the artist/painter/sculptor he turned out to be if he’d been consumed with ‘busy work’.

The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper paintings and instantly-recognisable The Vitruvian Man drawing would likely not exist!
(This is also a very practical example of why it’s wise to trust the universe AND the timing of your life!)
However, it wasn’t until the 1950’s that resumes became the standard documentation used when applying for employment.
And while things are changing all the time, the resume isn’t going anywhere soon.
It’s still the only document on your computer that can open doors like magic!
