If you don’t have a current or former resume, or have misplaced it and can’t find it, or are starting from scratch, you’ll need to gather some basic information before you can begin to write an industry-specific resume that opens doors like magic.
I’ve put together a RESUME INFORMATION SHEET (an editable word document) that you can download here and complete.
It is designed to gather this information:
- Up to date contact information – your name, phone number, email, and location
- A basic overview of your employment and work history, written in reverse chronological order with the most recent employment first – job role title, employer name, employer location, date from (month and year), date to (month and year)
- Education and training qualifications – year completed, qualification name or course title, name of training organisation and location of institution
- Continuing professional development and other learning – modules you’ve completed at work; conferences or seminars you’ve attended, workshops you’ve been to, or online courses you’ve completed in your own time
- Two referees – current or former employer/boss or colleague, or a character reference
